NextGenSL is Sri Lanka’s only cross-party youth political initiative, which brings together young politicians and political activists from the main political parties to focus on challenges faced by Sri Lanka. NextGenSL’s key focus areas include youth participation and engagement in politics, strengthening youth representation at all levels of governance, promoting the political representation of underrepresented groups, regulating campaigning finances and asset declaration laws in Sri Lanka, countering elected-related disinformation, empowering young political aspirants with knowledge and skills, advocating reforms for greater accountability and transparency in Sri Lankan politics. NextGenSL’s mission is to foster a healthy political culture that upholds accountability and transparency.
NextGenSL’s work has enabled them to build a strong presence island-wide and to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds. Its activities are supported by a number of international organisations, INGOs, and local civil society organizations.
